Most cleansers are built around water and surfactants — ingredients designed to strip. This one is built around shea butter, jojoba and sweet almond oil — ingredients designed to nourish. The balm-to-milk transformation isn't a gimmick, it's the mechanism by which oil-based impurities are lifted cleanly from the skin without disrupting the barrier. Tallow provides a lipid profile remarkably similar to human sebum, making it uniquely compatible with mature skin. No water in the formula means no preservatives needed and no dilution of the actives. Every ingredient here leaves your skin better than it found it.
Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter — The base of this formula and one of the most skin-compatible butters available. Rich in fatty acids and vitamin A, shea deeply nourishes while softening and protecting the barrier. In a cleanser it ensures the skin is being conditioned at the same time it is being cleansed.
Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil — Mimics the skin's own sebum more closely than almost any other plant ingredient. Dissolves excess sebum and buildup through the principle of like dissolving like, while simultaneously balancing and conditioning the skin.
Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil — Rich in oleic acid and vitamin E. Softens and conditions while supporting the skin's natural lipid barrier. Contributes to the smooth, melting texture of this balm and helps lift impurities without stripping.
Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil — Rich in ricinoleic acid, a unique fatty acid with documented anti-inflammatory and cleansing properties. Contributes to the emulsification process when water is added, helping the balm transform cleanly into milk.
Lipowax NF — A plant-derived emulsifying wax that gives this balm its solid texture at room temperature and enables the transformation to milk on contact with water. The functional backbone of the balm-to-milk format.
Tallow — Rendered from grass-fed beef, tallow has a fatty acid profile closer to human sebum than almost any plant-based ingredient. It is deeply nourishing, non-comedogenic and particularly effective on mature skin that has lost lipid density. A traditional ingredient that modern formulation is rediscovering for good reason.
Tocopherol (Vitamin E) — Neutralises free radical damage and protects the integrity of the oils in this formula. Supports skin healing and contributes to the long-term health of the barrier with every cleanse.
Boswellia Serrata (Frankincense) Oil — Supports cell regeneration and reduces inflammation. In a daily cleanser it means every time you wash your face you are also delivering a gentle anti-ageing active to your skin.
Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil — Calming and anti-inflammatory. Contributes a subtle, entirely natural scent and ensures the cleansing process leaves skin feeling settled rather than reactive.
Cedrus Atlantica (Cedarwood) Bark Oil — Supports skin cell regeneration and has mild astringent properties that help refine pores and improve skin tone over time. A grounding complement to the lavender in this formula.
